mugosa

We could not be more excited to introduce you to Mugosa Salama, this beautiful 16 year-old who lives halfway across the world in Jinja, Uganda.

Mugosa currently lives with her brother. There are six children in their family. In primary school, she is in grade six (Amazima notes that she is old for her grade due to a late entrance into school, possibly related to malnutrition or illness). Her favorite subject is Math and in her spare time she loves to read.

Your gracious support has made it possible for this sweet girl to receive, for one whole year:

- education at a Christian school
- school supplies and a uniform
- three meals a day
- medical care
- Christian discipleship
- Spiritual growth activities for her and her guardian

One hundred percent of the money we sent to Amazima will be used directly toward Mugosa. Isn’t that amazing?

When she turns 18 in two years, the age most other programs would “graduate” her out, Amazima will continue working with her through the completion of her education. They are even committed to seeing her through college, should she desire to attend!

We cannot thank you enough for buying our cupcakes! It’s so rewarding for us to finally be able to share a real face, a real name with all of you who have so generously supported us. You have helped change this girl’s life. Thank you.

We are well on our way toward raising the amount necessary for our second child sponsorship. If you haven’t been able to place an order with us yet, please keep Cupcakes Divine in mind for any future cupcake needs!

On the coldest day of the year so far in Indianapolis (we’re talking a 12 degree HIGH), your generosity brought a little bit of warmth to 156 people.

I don’t think it’s any accident that our delivery was scheduled for such freezing weather. The dining manager told me that because of the low temperatures, they were expecting a larger crowd than normal for dinner.

You helped us give four dozen chocolate, three dozen pumpkin, three dozen red velvet and three dozen snickerdoodle cupcakes. I realized as I drove away that it’s possible that many of these people haven’t had anything homemade for years. If you don’t have a home, you can’t make anything homemade. Fast food, handouts and shelter/cafeteria food likely comprise their diets.

While we didn’t get to spend time with any of the recipients of your cupcakes, we did get to visit with those who were prepping the meal. These staff were so grateful when we explained the reason behind our cupcakes. Most of the men working in the kitchen were once homeless themselves. They now proclaim the love of Jesus and the truth of the gospel with each meal they serve.

They planned to share the reason for your gifts as they passed the cupcakes out, and they wanted us to thank the people who had given to make the treats possible.

So, thank you for giving to these men, women and children – those the Lord  might term the “least of these.” Your gift was a blessing to Steph, to me and to many others whom you may never meet this side of Heaven!

thank you

We have been overwhelmed at all of the positive responses and encouragement we’ve received since our official Cupcakes Divine roll out! Your support is a true blessing to us.

You out-of-towners are awesome! You’ve already placed more than six dozen orders. We plan to deliver these to the Wheeler ministry soon, so please check back for pictures and updates.

Keep the orders coming!

first order

While we have logged more than 24 dozen taste-testing cupcakes in the last month (truly, we’ve lost track), we filled our first official order today!

A good friend ordered these three dozen for a baby shower she is hosting. Thanks for stepping out on a limb and being our first customer, Megan – hope you enjoy!

Looks like now we’re three dozen down, only 147 dozen to go!

After preparing behind the scenes for a couple of months now, we are beyond excited to officially launch our cupcake project. Please check back often for updates.
